# Diligence — Troubleshooting & FAQs

## "This workspace has no documents with extractable text yet"

You tried to run **Extract Metrics** before uploading any document the
product can read as text. Upload at least one PDF, Word, or Excel document
and try again.

## "No financial extraction has been generated for this workspace yet"

You're viewing a workspace's extracted metrics before ever running
**Extract Metrics** on it. Click **Extract Metrics** to generate the first
result.

## "Generate a Cairn Thesis before drafting an IC memo" / "Generate a financial extraction before drafting an IC memo"

IC Memo synthesizes an existing Cairn Thesis and Financial Extraction —
it can't generate one from scratch. Go to **AI Analysis** and generate
whichever one the message names, then try generating the memo again.

## "The provider could not produce a source-verified thesis" / "...a source-verified IC memo"

Cairn Intelligence returned a finding whose quote couldn't be matched back
to your actual document text, so the generation was rejected to avoid
saving an unverifiable claim. Your previously saved Thesis or Memo is
unchanged. Click **Regenerate** to try again — this is usually a transient
issue with that specific generation, not a problem with your documents.

## "Another thesis was generated" / "Another IC memo was generated. Reload the latest version before trying again."

Someone else on your team (or another browser tab) generated a new
version while your request was still in progress. Reload the workspace to
see the latest version, then regenerate from there if needed.

## "Documents changed during generation. Please regenerate with the current sources."

A document was added, removed, or changed while Cairn Intelligence was
reading your workspace. Regenerate to analyze the current set of
documents.

## "This version was edited elsewhere. Reload before saving your changes."

You tried to save analyst notes or an edited assumption against a Thesis
or Memo version that someone else (or another tab) has already edited
since you loaded it. Reload the workspace to get the current version, then
reapply your changes.

## My document is too large to upload

Uploads are limited to 25 MB per file. Compress the file or split it into
smaller documents before uploading.

## Are red flags detected automatically?

No. Red flags live in **Checklist & Flags**, entered manually — Cairn
Intelligence doesn't scan your documents for risks on its own today.

## Why is my comps section empty in the IC Memo?

Cairn Intelligence only reports comparable companies if your uploaded
documents actually mention them — it never invents comparable-company
data or valuation multiples. If no document discusses comps, the memo's
Comparable Companies section explains that no comp data was found in
your documents, rather than leaving the section unexplained.

## Does everyone on my team have the same access to Diligence?

Everyone can view every diligence workspace. What they can change depends
on their role:

Members whose role can't make a change don't see its buttons; members who
can't run Cairn Intelligence see its results read-only. Workspaces can't be
